This course Based on requirements of International conventions: STCW-78, as amended; SOLAS-74, as amended; MARPOL 73/78, as amended; COLREG -72, as amended; International Codes: LSA, COSWP, MFAG.

• understand a hull, keel, rudder and cockpit construction;
• have a proper knowledge in different types of sails and tackles;
• be able to carry out the required maintenance works upon a hull, sails and tackles;
• be familiar with a method of steering by means of a magnetic compass;
• understand the terms and definitions used in sail yachts industry;

• be familiar with evaluation of a weather information;

• be familiar with duties of a rating as far as duties of a helmsman on board a sail yacht;

• be able to use a personal life-safety appliances;
• understand COLREG-72 Regulations in a way of manoeuvring of a yacht;
• be able to demonstrate skills of manoeuvring under power and under sails;
• be able to demonstrate manoeuvring methods dockside or at mooring;
• be familiar with a common knots, bends and hitches;
• be able to provide a first-aid assistance on board a yacht;
• understand the requirements of MARPOL 73/78, as amended.

age : at least 16 years old;

health status : is physically and mentally fit to operate a pleasure craft, and in particular, has sufficient powers of vision and hearing;

ones, who has successfully completed training course for as minimum deck ratings/officer and has initial experience in yacht handling as far as basic safety familiarization training too;

Provided that this course has been approved by the Administration or the Class, a seafarer who successfully completes it will be issued with a certificate attesting that he or she has completed a course which meets or exceeds the level of knowledge specified as a ”Yacht Captain”.

LIMITATION

The maximum number of course attendees is 16

The course is conducted by qualified instructors that hold a valid Master’s license and have an adequate experience in this subject.
