SCOPETo provide seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board basic train-ing on Personal Safety, Safe Working Practices and understanding of the principles of Safety Management including Emergency Response as well as Medical First Aid, Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting.
OBJECTIVESAll seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship as part of the

ship’s complement with designated safety or pollution prevention duties in the opera

tion of the ship shall, before being assigned to any shipboard duties receive appropriate basic training or instruction in:

.1.1 personal survival techniques as set out in table A-VI/1-1

.1.2 fire prevention & fire fighting as set out in table A-VI/1-2,

.1.3 medical first aid as set out in table A-VI/1-3 and

.1.4 personal safety & social responsibilities as set out in table A-VI/1-4

ENTRY STANDARDSAll seafarers
CERTIFICATIONOn successful completion of the course, a certificates will be issued verifying

that the holder has been successfully trained and assessed on the elements of basic

training A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3, A-VI/1-4.

STAFF REQUIREMENTSThe course is conducted by qualified instructors that hold appropriate licenses and have an adequate experience in this subject.
FACILITIES & EQUIPMENTLife-boat, life-raft, life-buoys, life-jackets, immersion suits, thermal-protective aids, pyrotechnics, first aid kit, fire-extinquishers, hoses, nozzles, BA, fireman outfits and etc.
